How It Works
During every Kindly Call conversation, our AI continuously monitors for language that indicates distress, injury, or emergency. This happens automatically — your loved one doesn't need to press a button, wear a pendant, or remember a code word.
Triggers include:
Mentions of falling ("I had a fall", "I fell this morning"), chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe dizziness, confusion, requests for help ("I need someone to come"), mentions of injury, or significant changes in speech patterns.
What Happens When We Detect Something
Detection
Our AI identifies concerning language or patterns during the call. It assesses the severity and context to avoid false alerts.
Instant SMS Alert
Every nominated emergency contact receives an immediate SMS with what was detected, the time, and a transcript excerpt.
Family Response
You can call your loved one, visit in person, or contact emergency services (000) depending on the severity.
Why Daily Calls Catch What Pendants Miss
Personal alarms and medical pendants are reactive — they only work when someone presses the button. But many emergencies don't involve a sudden fall or conscious decision to press a button.
| Scenario | Pendant | Kindly Call |
|---|---|---|
| Sudden fall | If worn & button pressed | Detected in conversation |
| Gradual confusion | No detection | Speech pattern change |
| UTI causing delirium | No detection | Unusual responses flagged |
| Medication side effects | No detection | Symptoms mentioned in chat |
| Emotional distress/depression | No detection | Mood changes tracked |
| Not eating/drinking | No detection | Appetite discussed daily |
Over 150 early alerts are sent each month across our community. Many of these catch issues that would have gone unnoticed for days with a pendant alone.
Important Limitations
Kindly Call is NOT a medical alert system
We don't monitor 24/7. We don't dispatch ambulances. We don't replace 000. Kindly Call provides one daily touchpoint that can catch early warning signs. For life-threatening emergencies, always call 000.
Think of Kindly Call as an additional layer of awareness, not a replacement for medical alert systems. Many families use both — a pendant for acute emergencies and Kindly Call for daily wellness monitoring.
